Our second Christmas stall was yet another great experience, to learn, network and connect with amazing people. Looking back at our first stall, time spent on offloading and setting up required twice the time. The second time around, was quicker and as we are learning table placements, quantity and aiming to spread more colour, we got rid of the white table cloth and went bold.
It was great to see vendors from out first Christmas fair and within the first hour, this had turned into a merry event filled with laughter, warmth and lots of beautiful ornaments. The atmosphere was "the perfect festive season" with the young ones singing and playing Christmas carols accompanied by a live band.
Both customers and vendors went home happy, knowing their purpose for being here was perfectly fulfilled!
This being an event organised by the parents and teacher´s assosciation naturally drew the attendance from a lot of young persons. They left a happy stamp on our stall because our best seller of the day was the "beads and pearls" bracelets which sold fast for £1 each.
Our very first Christmas market stall was such an amazing experience. As Niyabo was born just before the pandemic season and before we went live, we found ourselves on hold in the over 2 year lockdown phase. Finally after finding luck in booking a stall, the preps started.
Over the weeks of excitement, last minute changes, the over planning and worrying melted away as the doors opened and the first customers walked in. We were amazed at how supportive all the other vendors were, from coming through to process transactions on their card machines for us, promptly helping out with change, giving us a helping hand by packing away purchases when our queue was getting longer and not forgetting taking over when we needed a quick break!
The most we worried about were the customers. It's true that a few years ago, not many had picked up the interest concerning nature and tuning themselves into leading an economical and sustainable lifestyle. But we are amazed how the current "global warming" awareness call has awakened many into paying attention to mother earth and embracing anything that can help preserve nature.
Our first set up was indeed colourful and we can only get better. As we continue to expand on our product range, we definitely will introduce more and more beautiful colours and unique treasures.
Through the transition from child onto the teenage years and becoming an adult, the word ECO was so foreign and I could have guessed it was French. I figured out there was nothing more healthier than my less planned lifestyle and trying to really eat a balanced diet of the 7 nutrients a day. The older I got, I realized the people I felt most comfortable with, those that had access to my inner circle of friends were somewhat different.
I started questioning myself what exactly connected us because one thing was for sure, it could not have been religion. Baptized and raised as a christian, my faith had always been strong, but I was never one of those ready to pounce on others and win converts. My inner circle was one without prejudice towards any religion or spiritual beliefs and we were different in the way we dressed, spoke and thought about life.
Then one day someone asked me if I was Eco-conscious and this word again came back to me. Who was this Eco? Was he friendly? Where would I find him? The answers only started coming back with the learning and the awareness opened a new door to something much more than just the food choices and clothes I wore.
